Alisha Lehmann has raised eyebrows by leaving both Lionel Messi and Harry Kane out of her men's Team of the Year.

ToggleLehmann was tasked by EA Sports FC with selecting her Team of the Year. The WSL star included three non-Premier League players in her XI, but there was no room for Inter Miami's Messi or Bayern Munich striker Kane.

Messi joined MLS side Inter Miami last summer, but the move did not stop him from winning an eighth Ballon d'Or in October. 2023 saw Kane leave Tottenham for Bayern Munich, where he has scored 25 goals in 22 appearances.
Instead of picking Messi and Kane, Lehmann went with an attacking trident of Mohamed Salah, Vinicius Jr and Erling Haaland.
After enjoying the WSL winter break, Lehmann will return to action when Aston Villa take on Everton in the FA Cup on Saturday. Off the pitch, she has rekindled her relationship with Villa club-mate Douglas Luiz. Fans can vote for their EA Sports FC Team of the Year here.
